COVID-19 Message to Parents from School Administration

Montreal - Sunday, March 15, 2020

Attention LDVA Community:

As announced this afternoon during a press conference, the situation with respect to COVID-19 is changing by the hour. We have received new directives from the Ministry of Education that there is to be no parent, student or staff accessing the school building whatsoever during this period of closure until March 27th, 2020. Only essential workers (admin, secretaries, daycare tech and caretaker) must report to work on Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

IF and only if, a parent needs to pick up an article that has been forgotten in school pertaining to a health matter like an asthma inhaler or epi-pen or medication, then the parent should email the Principal at nsammarco@emsb.qc.ca to schedule an appointment between 8 to 2 p.m.

DO NOT PRESENT YOURSELF UNTIL THAT APPOINTMENT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY EMAIL AS WE WANT TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE ENTERING THE SCHOOL AT ONE TIME.

In addition, the minister has announced that some school daycares will be open in order to offer services for parents who work in the health sector or immediate services sector. LDVA is NOT one of the identified 8 schools at this time. For parents working in these sectors and requiring these services, the EMSB schools that will be open to offer these services are:

  • Dante
  • Cedarcrest
  • Pierre Elliot Trudeau
  • St. Monica
  • St. Gabriel
  • Westmount Park / St. John Bosco
  • Elizabeth Ballantyne
  • Bancroft

Parents can present themselves there in the morning or register their child online immediately at: infogeo.education.gouv.qc.ca

Also, he has confirmed that there will be no fees to bring your children to these daycares. Only parents who work in the health sector or immediate services (ex: police officer) can use these services.

Please stay tuned and take the recommendations being made very seriously. It is not the time to socialize in large gatherings. The safer and more proactive we are, the better chances we have of containing the spread of this virus. Furthermore, if you have developed any symptoms, you must contact 1-877-644-4545 and then please communicate with me via email: nsammarco@emsb.qc.ca. Also, a reminder, if you or a loved one has recently returned from any trip outside of Canada, it is important to self- isolate for a period of 14 days.

Rest assured that we will continue to keep you informed as this situation continues to develop.

Stay healthy and well!
